Slow travel
Some of our guests arrive on foot, walking the Via Senonensis south towards Vézelay. Others arrive by bike on the V55, the greenway that follows the Yonne down from Sens. Either way the day has been long, and what you need by evening is simple.
A deep bath and a quiet room, looking over the garden or the valley. Dinner at the table d’hôtes, so there is nothing left to plan and nowhere else to go. Breakfast is included and served from eight, local and generous, to send you back out with something in you.
You can do your laundry here too — worth knowing when everything you own is in one bag.
Stop for a night, or stay two and let your legs catch up.
A Place for Silence & Sounds
Foray founder, Jamie, packed up his California studio, and months later it arrived in Foray.
This studio has since created scores for Venice Film Festival winning Emperor , alongside the exceptional cellist Gaspar Claus . Recorded the latest short film by Ilan Cohen , and hosted InFiné new signing Felix Antonio .
The studio is designed to be a space to be playful with exploration into what you record, not to feel the constraint of time, but to compose in realtime surrounded by interesting things to explore.

Not just for satirist…
A short Story by Margie Freeman -
In a freezing field, a bird lay on the ground, it’s eyes near frozen shut. Struggling to survive the bird senses a large being approach. A looming shadow blocks the last remaining light. The bird hears a heavy breath and recognizes the stern character of ‘Bull’.
Moving closer, finally stepping over him, Bull’s loud hooves crunch the frozen ground terrifyingly close to his unmovable wings. A rumbling noise follows, a tail wags, the bird’s and the Bull’s bodies both tense. Splat. Bull’s excrement covers the bird, only his beak slightly protruding. Bull slowly walks off without looking back.
Anger, disbelief, disgust slowly started to give way to a sense the bird could now slightly flick a wing. He laid longer, feeling the foul smelling warmth radiate gradually through him. Eventually, his body could once again control itself, thawed out, and if with super bird strength he burst free of his cack cocoon and took flight, headed south.
Not everyone that shits on you is being malicious..

In our movie lovers bedroom, you’ll find a curated list of French Director Ilan Cohen’s favorite films, to view on an huge OLED screen. Filmmakers have come to hone scripts, edit projects and work with music composers for their films at Foray, but maybe you just want to relax and watch some of the best ever made.
We also have a secret cinema on site, which you have to find the secret entrance to.

Where it’s a giant stone to lithograph onto, or a mop to make a giant calligraphy piece, we’ve helped with these things and more. Always fun to help people create!

Going to town? Borrow one of our six electric bikes and head to the River Jump spot, or La Prochaine Aire , or wonder in our forest and catch a glimpse of our neighbor Chateau du Fey .
Are you a wine lover? Discover our partner vineyards, with guided tastings, guided tours of the cellar, or even put together a customised offer for group visits.
Music Studio
Control room / Production suite running UAD apolllo 8 rack. Fun outboard effects, acoustic piano, nice instruments, drum room, vocal booth, a simple set up that promotes exploration in the writing and recording process.
Sauna with a view & Yoga
Whether you need space for a large group or your personal practice, we’ve got the space and the gear (yoga and pilates mats, weights, jump rope, indoor bike and rowing machine). And afterwards, enjoy our large Scandinavian sauna with a view over the valley and its outdoor cold shower, for a restorative pause.
Local and loving food
Join us for a creative and generous dinner set in captivating nature, or by the fireplace in the Grand Hall. Using local, seasonal produce, we are creating beautifully crafted vegetarian meals. And to complement your meal, a selection of Burgundy wines, local beers, homemade syrups and soft drinks.
